Interns for First Street Green / at First Park, 33 East First Street, NYC
Job Description: We are looking for interns who like working with people and have design and/or writing skills. You will assist us in our second season of programming cultural events, and in developing our organization’s visual identity. You may assist us in facilitating events, and at meetings with community groups that we partner with. You may assist in creating temporary structures and installations.
Internship Learning Goals: There will be much to learn and to contribute. This is an opportunity for the intern to develop a variety of skills and to work creatively, side by side with a group of community artists, architects and residents who work closely with the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation to support a new Art Park by providing sustainable programming for and with the community focusing on cultural and educational events involving all of the arts, while also serving as a public forum for ideas.
Qualifications: Design and writing skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Knowledge of Autocad and Rhino will be preferred but not required. Should enjoy working with people.

Employer Profile: First Street Green (FSG) is a group of community artists, architects and residents that came together in 2008 to transform the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) – owned vacant lot at 33 East First Street in Manhattan into a maintainable plaza and cultural space/Art Park. FSG’s phase one goal has been achieved through DPR’s efforts and the hosting of the BMW Guggenheim Lab in 2011. FSG supports the Art Park by providing sustainable programming for and with the community focusing on cultural and educational events involving all of the arts, while also serving as a public forum for ideas.
